1974 De Tomaso Pantera L<\/h3>\n

During the 1970s, there was no more passionate Ford collector in America than Floyd Moore of Glenville, Illinois. A Ford man since attaining his first car in 1945, business success enabled Moore to build an impressive collection of automobiles. He regularly worked with Ford officials to order the first or last of a model run, for a collection that came to include various \u201cserial number one\u201d Lincoln Marks and the last period FoMoCo convertible, a Cougar XR-7, amongst others.<\/p>\n

1940 BMW 328 Roadster<\/h3>\n

While marques like Bugatti, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and Alfa-Romeo are typically considered in conversations of the most sporting pre-war automobiles, few cars can compare to the BMW 328 at the lighter end of the scale. Initially solely a manufacturer of motorcycles and aero engines (its famous logo is actually a representation of a moving propeller), BMW only entered automobile production in 1929 after acquiring the German firm Dixi, which was already building licensed versions of the four-cylinder Austin 7.<\/p>\n

1965 Ford GT40 Roadster<\/h3>\n

Very few models in automotive history claim a comprehensive provenance that encompasses beauty of exterior design, power and flexibility of mechanical specifications, competition success, conception and execution by multiple legends in the field, and rarity.<\/p>\n

Though a short list of such models is always subjective in nature, there is still a consensus on a small handful of great cars, of which the Ford GT40 is certainly worthy of top consideration. Its sensational appearance and groundbreaking mid\/rear-engine layout, powerful Detroit muscle, a design and proving team including Eric Broadley, Carroll Shelby, Dan Gurney, and John Wyer, and ultimately four consecutive victories at the 24-Hours of Le Mans combined to propel the GT40 to a stratospheric level of appreciation and esteem within the niche, which endures to this day.<\/p>\n

1952 Ferrari 342 America Cabriolet<\/h2>\n

Built with an extended 2,650-mm wheelbase to accommodate the enlarged 200-hp Lampredi V-12, this classic Ferrari 342 America Cabriolet\u00a0saw a total production run of only six examples for clients like King Leopold of Belgium and Enzo Ferrari himself.<\/p>\n

With bodywork\u00a0by Vignale, this Ferrari 342 America features unique\u00a0slotted taillights recessed into the fenders.\u00a0The classic car\u00a0was subsequently exported to the United States in the late 1950s or early 1960s, and acquired by T. Dan Smith of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n
