Australian based, Carr Design Studio,\u00a0transforms old cottage on Mornington Peninsula into art-filled luxury hotel<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

Led by the much-awarded Sue Carr and founded in 1971, Carr Design Group<\/strong><\/em> is considered to be one of Australia\u2019s most influential interior design<\/strong> <\/em>firms.<\/p>\n

Recently the studio\u00a0\u00a0Carr<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0 used a charred wood exterior and dark interiors to transform an old cottage on Mornington Peninsula<\/strong><\/em> into a luxury hotel<\/strong><\/em>. And it actually worked pretty well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The luxury hotel<\/strong><\/em>, named as Jackalope<\/strong><\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>is based around an 18th century Federation cottage and was restored \u00a0by the architecture<\/strong> <\/em>studio back to an usable state based on \u201cbold and modern\u201d design<\/strong> <\/em>concept.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The building is located in a wine-growing region in the south of Melbourne<\/strong><\/em> and overlooks sculptural landscapes of the vines and old native planting yards. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\"Carr<\/a><\/p>\n

Jackalope<\/strong><\/em> is nothing less than a 46 room boutique hotel<\/strong> <\/em>covered in dark zinc, charred timber and black metal detailing being an authentic piece of architecture<\/strong><\/em> where a bold and modern interpretation of design<\/strong><\/em> lays within.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"Carr<\/a><\/p>\n

In its art-filled interior design<\/strong> <\/em>one can find dramatic colors and lighting designs<\/strong><\/em><\/a> that create an \u201cout of this world experience\u201d for guests.<\/p>\n

According to the studio, the interiors are meant to celebrate mystery and whimsy of alchemy. Metallic elements such as gold, silver, copper and bronze\u00a0become the main attraction in the space.<\/p>\n

The lobby contains a black-tinted glass box that displays bottles of wine which the architects described as \u201cpart object, part installation\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A lounge and bar are located inside the original 18th-century building, where interiors are deliberately designed to contrast with the architectural history.<\/p>\n
