Studio New Design Project mixes different styles and colors for unique Manhattan apartment renovation<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

If you follow our blow\u00a0you might already know about\u00a0the Spring\/Summer 2017<\/strong> color trends<\/strong><\/em> that have been conquering the interior design<\/strong><\/em> industry\u00a0lately.\u00a0And that this season is all about giving a breath of fresh air to home designs with\u00a0bright and fun colors that connect us to the beautiful floral landscapes of spring.<\/p>\n

You might also\u00a0have heard about this year\u2019s star according to Pantone<\/strong><\/em><\/a> \u2013 Greenery<\/strong><\/em> \u2013 and it\u2019s fellow mates \u2013 Primrose yellow<\/strong><\/em> and Island paradise<\/strong><\/em> blue. These unique colors have been the inspiration for many designers and decorators, including the New York based\u00a0studio New Design Project<\/strong><\/em> for its newest project in Manhattan<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>where he was brave enough to combine a wide diversity of styles and color pallets together for the apartment\u2019s renovation. The result was pretty unique.<\/p>\n

The apartment, named Fresh and Serene<\/strong><\/em> on Park Avenue South<\/strong><\/em>, was renovated for a young client. The designers<\/strong> <\/em>wanted the space to reflect both the location and the tenant\u2019s lifestyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to create a space that felt refined and elegant but still young and urban,\u201d <\/em>\u201cOur goal was to create a space that was impactful without trying too hard.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The designers<\/strong><\/em> balanced a color scheme of grey and beige with dark accents and blue tones.<\/p>\n

In the living room, a white Casa sofa from Camerich<\/a> and light beige armchairs are placed on the Blue Diego Rug by Eskayel<\/a>. Lit from behind\u00a0by large windows and white walls, the furnishings<\/strong><\/em><\/a> were chosen to evoke a sense of calm.<\/p>\n

The studio made a black and brass wall unit, and a\u00a0large abstract artwork on an adjacent wall \u2013 creating a bold statement against of the rest of the lounge.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the colour palette and choice of materials lend a fresh and serene feel to the space, despite the odd bold accent and the location of the property on a busy avenue in Midtown Manhattan,\u201d said the studio.<\/p>\n

Adding to contrasts across\u00a0the interior, different styles of furniture<\/strong><\/em> are used together. Mid-century-style chairs<\/strong><\/em><\/a> stand alongside contemporary furnishings<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, like the designers\u2019 custom made marble and black oak nightstands in the bedroom, and floating upholstered bench in the dining room.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always try and incorporate several different styles in to our designs because we find it adds depth and interest to a space,\u201d The New Design project said. \u201cThis layering of styles tends to be through the use of different colours, tones and textures, rather than patterns.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instead of modifying the layout of the spaces, the studio used lighting<\/strong><\/em><\/a> to draw attention to structural aspects of the space already present.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe apartment was already in good condition, but we sought to emphasise the architectural details, such as specifying sculptural lighting<\/strong><\/em><\/a> throughout to emphasise the high ceilings and add drama,\u201d said the designers.<\/p>\n

The Lariat 3 pendant lamp by Apparatus<\/a> hangs loosely from the lounge ceiling, while chandeliers<\/strong><\/em><\/a> based on\u00a0Lindsey Adelman\u2019s\u00a0designs are suspended in the dining room and master bedroom.<\/p>\n

The renovation is intended as a thoughtful and cosy design<\/strong><\/em> that can adapt to the lifestyle of its young tenant.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe client wanted us to create a home that felt warm and considered, without feeling overly \u2018designed\u2019,\u201d the studio said. \u201cUltimately, this client was looking for a beautiful home for her to enjoy and not necessarily to show off with.\u201d<\/p>\n
