Take a look!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1590 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/luxury-guide-milan-duomo-e1458300145177.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"653\" height=\"500\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Duomo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Emerging from the steamy subway station at the Piazza del Duomo, look up and you can\u2019t help but be blown away by the enormous white marble fa\u00e7ade of Milan\u2019s cathedral. The Duomo is the city\u2019s most famous building, and rightly so. It took centuries to build and after the latest restoration it looks as impressive as ever. Walk around it to appreciate its size, or if you want to see inside, make sure you are dressed appropriately, covering arms and legs, otherwise you won\u2019t be allowed in!<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1591 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/luxury-guide-milan-mudeo-del-novecento-e1458300250936.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Museo del Novecento<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To the right of the Duomo, facing the cathedral, are the beautifully restored twin Arengario buildings, one of which houses the new Novecento art museum. The outside of the building is as worth a gander, before stepping inside to explore its treasures. The museum houses many of the masterpieces of Italian 20th century modern art, like the impressive Quarto Stato painting of Pellizza di Volpeda (striking workers at the turn of the century \u2013 you\u2019ll probably recognise it when you see it) and the famous Unique Forms of Continuity in Space statue by Boccioni (imagine a bronze Transformer).<\/p>\n<p class=\"content-body__paragraph\" data-reactid=\".1m5puo4th4w.2.0.2.1.$WD-11597.1.0.5.7.$6.$0\"><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1593 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/luxury-guide-milan-sforzesco-castle-e1458300367657.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\"><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sforzesco Castle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within walking distance from the Duomo, along the car-free shopping avenue of the Via Dante, lies the impressive castle of the Renaissance Sforzesco family that once ruled Milan. It now hosts a collection of civic museums and offers access to the large Sempione park (see point 8). Meandering through the courtyards, you can admire the architecture and pop into different museums that exhibit, among others, Michelangelo\u2019s Rondanini Piet\u00e0, Mantenga\u2019s T_rivulzio Madonna _and boast ceilings painted according to designs by Leonardo da Vinci. The castle is worth a visit even in you are not going to the museums.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1594 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/luxury-guide-milan-Galleria-Vittorio-Emanuele-e1458300525517.jpg\" alt=\"luxury guide milan Galleria Vittorio Emanuele\" width=\"889\" height=\"500\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Galleria Vittorio Emanuele<br>\n<\/strong><br>\nThis 18th century glass and iron covered gallery is home to many beautiful shops, restaurants and cafes. Look up to see the magnificent central dome. Look down to see the emblems on the mosaic floor representing the cities of Milan, Rome, Florence and Turin. If you want to return to Milan you are supposed to place your heel on the emblem of Turin -the bull- and rotate clockwise!<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1595 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/luxury-guide-milan-La-Scala-e1458300635485.jpg\" alt=\"luxury guide milan La Scala\" width=\"751\" height=\"500\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>La Scala<br>\n<\/strong><br>\nIt\u2019s an easy walk from the Duomo, through the Galleria and on to La Scala, Milan\u2019s famous opera house which opened in 1778. Here some of the world\u2019s best singers and orchestras can be heard and famous ballets seen. If you cannot book tickets to one of the performances, a visit to the Museo Teatrale alla Scala ( Museum) also includes a visit to one of the boxes where you can look down on the stage.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1596 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.luxxu.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/luxury-guide-milan-golden-triangle-e1458300840561.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Golden Triangle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the name given to Milan\u2019s famous shopping streets, Via Monte Napoleone, Via della Spiga and those that run between them, Via San\u2019t Andrea, Via Ges\u00f9, Via Borgospesso.
