\u201cBecause I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel,\u201d Drake said in reference to his home. \u201cIt will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIn form, materials, and execution, the structure is a proper 19th-century limestone mansion. But the exterior profiles are more minimal and the lines are a bit cleaner,\u201d says Rafauli, the designer in charge of Drake\u2019s<\/strong> <\/span><\/em>home\u2019s renovation. \u201cThis isn\u2019t stucco, paint, and fake gold. That\u2019s not what Drake wanted, and that\u2019s not what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also called the Embassy, the house draws inspiration from its original architecture, adding in some contemporary touches in what the designer calls a \u201cmodern Art Deco\u201d style.\u00a0\u201cOnce you\u2019ve chosen a certain style, you can dance within that style,\u201d Rafauli observes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s overwhelming high luxury. That message is delivered through the size of the rooms and the materials and details of the floors and the ceilings. I wanted to make sure people can see the work I\u2019ve put in over the years reflected from every vantage point.\u201d Drake says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The master bedroom suite is\u00a0Drake\u2019s<\/strong><\/span><\/em> favorite room in his home,<\/strong><\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u201cThe bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day,\u201d he says. \u201cThe bed lets you float, the shower lets you escape and gather your thoughts, and the closet makes you want to talk to yourself while you\u2019re getting dressed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the house shows that I have true faith in myself to take on this task when I was just 27 and see it through,\u201d Drake<\/strong><\/span><\/em> concludes on his home. \u201cI also think the house says that I will forever remain solid in the place I was born.\u201d<\/p>\n
