Take a Look at the New Paddock Design for the Canadian Grand Prix – The Formula One world is going into a frenzy with just a few days left for the Canadian Grand Prix to take place. In today’s article, we take a look at the new F1 Canadian GP paddock and pit building, located at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Notre-Dame Island in Montreal. The modern multi-story complex was officially renovated in 2019 to meet current FIA operational and broadcasting standards.

Take a Look at the New Montreal Paddock Design

Les Architectes FABG were the ones behind creating the outstanding structure, combining resistant and sustainable materials. The new Paddocks will accommodate up to 13 stables, each of which will have two front accesses for single-seaters, drivers, and technical teams, as well as service access at the rear of the building for equipment or quick access to the redeveloped hospitality area.

Designed without a permanent division, the garage space is modular to meet the needs of the teams at each edition of the Canadian Grand Prix: temporary partitions will be used to create the desired divisions, thus accommodating the technical needs of this constantly evolving sport.

The building will also present a new space configuration for sports commentators and FIA/FOWC representatives. Unlike the Old control tower, which was built at height to offer good visibility on the track, the new tower is arranged horizontally on 2 floors within the building, as new race control technologies now require less direct visibility.

The Canadian Grand Prix has been a key part of the Formula 1 calendar since debuting in 1967, settling at Montreal’s iconic circuit in 1978. Known for its thrilling races and ever-changing weather conditions, the event remains a favorite among both drivers and fans.
The 2026 race weekend gets underway on Friday, 22 May, with Formula 1 cars hitting the track for the sole practice session before Sprint Qualifying later in the day. Action continues on Saturday, 23 May, beginning with the Sprint race and followed by Grand Prix Qualifying. The weekend concludes on Sunday, 24 May, when the Canadian Grand Prix starts at 16:00 local time. From Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc to Mercedes’ George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, among others, it’s anyone’s game, so stay tuned!
